Odds For Lions To Win Super Bowl
Posted By admin On 29/03/22Oddsmakers and the betting public essentially thought Stafford was a significant upgrade over Goff, which led to the Rams getting much better odds to win Super Bowl LVI in 2022 — and, conversely. The Detroit Lions odds to win the Super Bowl odds right now are sitting towards the bottom of the Super Bowl odds board at +12500 odds. The Lions have many key pieces on their team that, if they are able to have good chemistry, can actually make some noise in the league.
Matthew Stafford’s trade from the Lions to the Rams significantly helped the odds for Los Angeles to become the second team to play in a Super Bowl in its home stadium while the Deshaun Watson.
NFL training camps are just days away from opening. That means it’s time to consider 2019 Detroit Lions futures and prop bets.
In short, oddsmakers aren’t expecting Detroit to win its first Super Bowl next February. It will be a surprise if the Lions even make the playoffs.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t any good opportunities for wagering on the 2019 Lions season, however.
Legal 2019 Detroit Lions futures bets
Michigan sports betting remains illegal. The closest state that allows for that activity is Indiana. Indiana’s casinos and online operators are busy prepping their sportsbooks right now.
Michigan residents who wish to cross the border to place bets will be able to do so when the sportsbooks in Indiana open. The Indiana law does not require bettors to be residents of that state.
The situation in the Wolverine State could change, however. Bills exist to legalize sports betting in Michigan. The biggest potential hurdle to one of them becoming law is Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s concerns about how the tax structure would affect the state’s lottery education fund.
If the legislature and Gov. Whitmer can work out a compromise, Michigan residents may be able to legally wager on Lions games. It’s unlikely that will happen in time for the coming NFL season, however.
The Lions can’t wait for Lansing to settle its differences. The 2019 season is coming regardless of the legal situation in the state.
Lions Super Bowl odds show oddsmakers are sheepish
In terms of the likelihood of Detroit bringing home a Super Bowl title in February 2020, the Lions are more like lambs in the eyes of oddsmakers.
Several online books that accept legal wagers in other states have Super Bowl 2020 odds posted. But the Lions are longshots to win at all of them.
FanDuel Sportsbook, which is in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania has Detroit at +8000 (bet $100 to win $8,000, as does BetStars NJ.
DraftKings Sportsbook has them at even longer odds: +12500.
Suffice it to say, legal bookmakers are not high on the Lions.
Lions 2019 NFC odds and NFC North odds
The aforementioned books have odds on whether Detroit wins the next NFC championship game.
FanDuel list Detroit at +4000 to win the NFC, while DraftKings is again less bullish on the Lions, putting them at +5000.
A good step toward possibly winning the NFC would be to win the NFC North division title. Detroit isn’t favored to do so, but odds are posted on the off chance the Lions surprise the experts.
Lions’ odds to win the NFC North division
Sportsbooks agree that any of the other three teams in the NFC North are more likely to win when considering the 2019 Detroit Lions futures. That means an opportunity to win big if Detroit shocks the NFL world.
While the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are all given good odds to win the division, no one likes the Lions’ chances. The Vikings, for instance, are +225 to win and are the longest odds of those teams.
The Lions, on the other hand, are +1100 at FanDuel and +1400 at DraftKings.
Odds on the Lions making the playoffs in 2019
FanDuel has the Lions at +900 to hunt down one of the NFC’s two wildcard spots in 2019. That book is one of three that also poses bettors with a simple question: will Detroit make the playoffs in 2019 either as a wildcard or the NFC North champion?
As expected, the odds are extraordinarily better on a positive answer to that question. FanDuel’s line on a “yes” to that bet is +490.
It’s not difficult to understand why the potential payouts are so good on the Lions reaching the postseason when the over/under on their season win total is considered.
2019 Detroit Lions futures: season win total
Sportsbooks seem to have reached some consensus on the Lions’ win total for the season, as most have them listed at 6.5 wins.
Most books have Detroit as a narrow Week 1 underdog in its season-opening game at Arizona. The Cardinals are favored by as much as 2 1/2 points currently, with a game total of as much as 48 1/2 points.
If the Lions are successful in defeating Arizona on Week 1 or surpassing their season win total, it will be because of the contributions of players on their roster.
Lions 2019 player prop bets: Stafford leads the pride
Although the big news out of Detroit during the offseason was the signing of defensive end Trey Flowers, Lions player prop bets for the coming season revolve around a familiar face.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is listed by FanDuel as an MVP contender, albeit a longshot. He is +5000 on FanDuel to claim that award in 2019.
The MVP race isn’t the only place where Stafford shows up, however. Stafford is listed in other prop bets by FanDuel:
- Odds on Stafford leading the NFL in passing yards in 2019: +3400
- Stafford is also given odds of +8000 to lead the league in touchdown passes by FanDuel.
Although the highest number of prop bets involving one Lions player are focused on Stafford, other Lions players are featured in other bets, as well.
Other player props: Johnson, Golladay and more
Linebacker Jahlani Tavai, whom Detroit selected in the second round of the 2019 draft out of Hawaii, is a contender for the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award. FanDuel pegs him at +5000.
Outside of that, prop bets involving Lions players are statistical:
Odds For Lions To Win The Super Bowl 2019 Bet

- Johnson is also given odds of +3400 to lead the NFL in rushing touchdowns.

- FanDuel also lists Marvin Jones Jr. at +6500 to do the same.
- Golladay is +4400 to lead the league in touchdown receptions, while Jones Jr. is +5000 to catch the most touchdown passes on FanDuel.
